The University Interscholastic League was created by The University of Texas at Austin to provide leadership and guidance to public school debate and athletic teachers. Since 1910 the UIL has grown into the largest inter-school organization of its kind in the world. Schools are now free to opt-in to UIL Equal Access and allow homeschool students to participate in both athletic and academic extracurricular activities.  UIL builds relationships and teaches students how to work well with others. In order to win they will prepare or do more than what is required, and that can carry into everyday life as well.

We had several different students compete in the 2024 UIL competition season. Those students competed in events like Persuasive Speaking, Debate,  Science, Editorial Writing, Spelling, and Mathematics. We had multiple students place in academic competitions at District. In addition we had two students place within the top ten percent in their overall categories. Bree’anna Chamblee who placed fourth/alternative in debate. Easton Wolfe placed third in his overall category, which qualified him for Regionals.

Easton Wolfe was the only students to qualify for Regionals in UIL Academics. Easton Wolfe had to get top three to be eligible to compete in the UIL Academic Regional competition.  Easton Wolfe’s activity that he competed in was Persuasive Speaking. Once at Regionals Easton Wolfe placed number six out of one hundred kids.

UIL Academic competitions are important to several people all around the State of Texas. From the beginning in 1910 at the University of Texas to now. People have grown to love UIL for many different reasons like speaking, making friends, helping others, showing integrity, building confidence, and being a part of an academic family. Overall UIL has helped many people in several different ways, and We feel UIL will continue to grow.
